I can not deny mi inspiration, I feel like a proud fan of the culture that has made de artist that I am today. Cinema, comics, classic illustration, antiquities, architecture, decoration, pop and rock music, motorbikes and classic cars, trends from the 50s…
Indistinctively of the subject I am dealing with, I always dedicate a big part of the project for documentation, this helps me take care of small details and to further strengthen my intention of story telling in my illustrations.
A good design for me, is one that expresses all its potential in black and white, without the need for colour.
My work process is usually always the same. It is a mixture of traditional yesteryear techniques combined with digital art.
I carry out my designs using red or blue pencils over paper and I finish them with Chinese ink applied with pens or nibs. I also use certain felt-tipped pens. For the colour part, the designs are digitalized.
I try using recycled paper. Its quite common to find different papers in my digital illustrations that have been united to conform a bigger canvas, a new artwork.
In many cases the reverse of my papers contains sketches of other ideas, hand-written notes, dates in which they have been worked on, phone numbers… which makes them more authentic and interesting.
A diffused art makes a living artist.
It is possible I have already lived two thirds of a life and with a bit of luck, I still dispose of 25 more years.
When you reach certain age, it is not dramatic to reflect about this, it is realistic, and I think it is positive.
My motivation to sell my pieces of work is that they diffuse as widely as possible among the public. An accessible art, makes a diffused art.
All artworks include their authenticity certificate signed by the author.
